About CanISO
The dog,
Canis lupus familiaris, have lived with humans as an assistant in many parts, for example, hunting and livestock management for thousands of years. Since the emergence of high throughput sequencing technologies, studies have expanded the knowledge of genomic variations and expression profiles in dogs. However, due to the difficulties in collecting high quality tissues for RNA-level analysis, the catalogue of transcript expressed in dogs remains in complete, particularly for their profile in cancer.
We developed CanISO database that contains large-scale transcriptome data in normal (N=64) and tumor conditions (N=157) for domestic dog. Therefore, CanISO enables to facilitate expression-based analysis at gene- and transcript isoform-level in each sample, in a group (normal or tumor), and between both conditions. Since GTEx data in human is included into CanISO database, comparison function can also be supported between samples of dogs and humans. Furthermore, we showed the number of alternative splicing events in tabular form between isoform pairs in a gene. In addition, since germline SNPs of samples collected (N=183) were included into CanISO database, SNP data search is supported as another function of the CanISO.
